Mulvarra House | Workshop and Retreat Centre St Mullins

Mulvarra House

Due to the unfolding national and global crisis around Covid 19, Mulvarra House will be closed until further notice.

Covid 19 update

With great regret, we have taken the decision that the only option in these present circumstances is for us to remain closed until further notice. Although we both feel that yoga and meditation  are  incredibly important for people in this time of mounting fear, it is more important that we follow the best advice from the HSE and remain shut until we are advised that is is safe to reopen. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is on the front line in the struggle to contain the spread of this pandemic.. Our hearts go out to those whose lives have already been touched by the virus.  Stay safe everyone, agus go n-éirí an bóthar linn.

Discover Mulvarra House - a new workshop and retreat centre on the River Barrow

Running workshops and retreats year round

Mulvarra House is a new workshop and retreat centre located in the village of St Mullins on the River Barrow. We run weekend workshops and retreats primarily in the areas of yoga/meditation, traditional arts and crafts, and food. Located right on the border of Carlow, Kilkenny, and Wexford, we are an hour and a half away from Dublin. Waterford and Kilkenny are practically on our doorstep.

Your hosts, Tim and Linda, have created a wonderfully peaceful and relaxed environment at Mulvarra. While at Mulvarra, you will get to experience a truly magical landscape which surrounds the ancient monastic site of St Mullins, the jewel of the River Barrow. Whether you come to Mulvarra to practice yoga, unleash your creativity, paint, meditate, or just stay and rest and relax, you will come away feeling replenished and revived.

Move without pain workshop

This is Marian’s final somatic movement workshop for 2019.

Regain suppleness in your muscles and reduce pain with Thomas Hanna’s teachings. Another gorgeous morning of learning coming your way as well as a fab veggie lunch prepared by the lovely Linda. Whether you are brand new to somatic movement or have been practicing quite a while you are most welcome to attend.

Marian is looking forward to helping you understand how we are accumulating stress and trauma in our bodies which causes pain and how we can get out of that pain ourselves and taking control of our own health and wellbeing.

Cooking vegan: an introduction

The world seems to be moving more and more towards a plant-based way of eating. Variety is the key here and I will show you that a plant-based meal does not have to be boring, far from it!

This workshop will help you to incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet, even if you’re not vegan.
I will be demonstrating some quick and delicious vegan food – ideas for dinner, lunch and snacks.

We’ll of course taste all the food together and you’ll go home with all the recipes too. Happy cooking!

Slow flow retreat - with Susie Murray and Aideen Bates

We are delighted to welcome Susie Murray and Aideen Bates to Mulvarra House for a slow flow yoga retreat in the new year!

This retreat is open to anyone who wishes to take an opportunity to rest by granting the body and mind to deeply relax, and allow a space to open and release old tensions that no longer serve you.  Feel fully recharged and completely refreshed for the year ahead.  Clearing away old stagnant energy and gently rising, awakening and warming the body and soul for 2020.

Together we will practice, breathe, eat, laugh, walk and rest.  Each practice will be open to all levels and abilities where we have an emphasis on celebrating connection, stillness, transition and strength.

Friday January 31st to Sunday February 2nd 2020

I have just come down to earth after a magical weekend yoga retreat in Mulvarra House. It is my second retreat in Mulvarra and it will not be the last. Everything was perfect from the incredibly peaceful yoga studio, to the most comfortable bed, to the heart warming vegetarian food. The hosts Tim and Linda make Mulvarra house what it is, a truly magical space. Thank you so much 😊

How to find us

The food experience on the retreat

At Mulvarra, we are very excited about food. Excited about where it comes from, how it is grown, how it is prepared, who you eat it with. As we are still in the early stages of developing Mulvarra and its Breathing Space, we are currently using fresh ingredients and organic food where we can but in the future we will grow our own food.We generally stick to vegetarian cooking in Mulvarra, although we are flexible and also cater to a variety of dietary restrictions. Vegetarian cooking is so versatile, you really don’t miss that piece of meat on your plate when it’s not there. Whatever your thoughts are on the topic, there is no denying that the meat production in most countries is not sustainable and certainly not animal friendly. When we do, very occasionally, prepare meat dishes we make sure it’s organically sourced

Food Highlights

  • Full board accommodation
  • All meals and drinks included
  • healthy energy snacks
  • Food is all vegetarian and organic produce
