Your teacher:
Elena Moreo

Elena discovered yoga in 2003, while recovering from a painful injury, and has been practicing regularly since. She was blessed to start her yoga journey under the guidance of two amazing teachers – Orla Punch and Greg Walsh – who instilled a profound love and respect for the practice of yoga and the beautiful complexity of the human body. She completed her Vinyasa Flow teacher training in 2009 (with David Curtis and Ruth Walshe) and did further training in Yin yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and Yoga anatomy. She believes that yoga can benefit anyone, regardless of age, flexibility, or level of fitness and that the practice can help us find a sense of genuine self-acceptance, radical compassion, and joyful curiosity.

yoga and relaxation Retreat

Friday 4th August – Sunday 6th August

August marks the height of summer, a time when nature is most generous in its aliveness and beauty.  The warmer days and the abundance of light seem to carry an expansive energy inviting us to make more space for wonder, playfulness, and curiosity. It is a magical time to slow down, take deep breaths, enjoy the outdoors, and soften into the heart space.

This weekend retreat will be about connecting with ourselves, nature, and each other through embodied practices that can help nourish the grounds of our being and make us feel more attuned with our inner vitality and the world around us.  The yoga practices are designed to help cultivate both spacious, mindful awareness and deep relaxation and calmness. The focus during the morning classes will be on exploring the beauty of ‘flow’ states, those moments when we feel in sync with our surroundings, intentions, and intuitions and thus more integrated and aware of ourselves. In the evenings we will practice poses that help draw the attention inwards and have a grounding, calming effect. The emphasis here will be on slowing down, softening our efforts, and practicing from a place of acceptance, receptiveness, and self-care.

The weekend will also be an opportunity to taste and fall in love with Linda’s delicious food; explore the gorgeous landscape of St. Mullins; chat and connect with other people; and re-enchant ourselves with the wonders of nature.

A little bit about me:

I discovered yoga in 2003, while recovering from a painful injury, and have been practicing regularly since. I was blessed to start my yoga journey under the guidance of two amazing teachers – Orla Punch and Greg Walsh – who instilled a profound love and respect for the practice of yoga and the beautiful complexity of the human body.  I completed my Vinyasa Flow teacher training in 2009 (with David Curtis and Ruth Walshe) and did further training in Yin yoga, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and Yoga anatomy. I believe that yoga can benefit anyone, regardless of age, flexibility, or level of fitness and that the practice can help us find a sense of genuine self-acceptance, radical compassion, and joyful curiosity.

The Breathing Space studio

This large, light-filled space has commanding views over the Barrow River and surrounding forests, as well as the 7th century monastic settlement of St Mullins itself.  Although it was designed specifically to function as a yoga studio and mediatation space,  it supports multiple uses. It features  a special infra red heating system and a full complement of yoga equipment.

The food experience on the retreat

At Mulvarra, we are very excited about food. Excited about where it comes from, how it is grown, how it is prepared, who you eat it with. As we are still in the early stages of developing Mulvarra and its Breathing Space, we are currently using fresh ingredients and organic food where we can but in the future we will grow our own food.We generally stick to vegetarian cooking in Mulvarra, although we are flexible and also cater to a variety of dietary restrictions. Vegetarian cooking is so versatile, you really don’t miss that piece of meat on your plate when it’s not there. Whatever your thoughts are on the topic, there is no denying that the meat production in most countries is not sustainable and certainly not animal friendly. When we do, very occasionally, prepare meat dishes we make sure it’s organically sourced
