Bean Feasa - Wise Woman Weekend

3 day retreat 2nd - 4th October 2020

Bean Fessa translates into English as Wise Woman or Woman of Knowledge. This term was traditionally used in Ireland for women who were healers. Healers usually healed through herbs, or connections with the fairies or other worldly beings.

These traditions are of course are not unique to Ireland, but I will waive the stories of some of Ireland most famous Bean Feassa’s throughout this weekend, so we can take inspiration and connect to the Bean Feassa within.

Join me for this weekend of self healing, self empowerment and connection to our sisters, with Yoga, Meditation, Ceremony & Ritual.

Style of Yoga to be taught
This weekend is a blend of Moon Yoga, Yin Yoga, Meditation, Journaling, Creativity, Ceremony & Ritual. I have combined all the tools that have helped me discover the bean feassa inside. This is a jam packed weekend; I like to make sure you get the most out of your time.
Each style of Yoga is slow but powerful, focusing on a more feminine/Yin style allowing us to rest and digest rather than forcing through and pushing hard. These transformative practices are suitable for beginners and can be tailored to suit certain injuries & conditions that may not be suitable for a stronger style of Yoga.
Everyone is welcome to join this weekend. It is aimed towards anyone who wishes to connect with their inner Wild Woman regardless of your gender.

Highlights

  • 4 yoga classes
  • 2 yoga nidra sessions
  • 2 workshops
  • Suitable for beginners and all fitness levels
  • All meals included
  • 2 nights accommodation (shared and unshared accommodation options available)

Accommodation Options

In the interest of maintaining as safe an environment as possible, we can only offer one shared room for our retreats. This is also because we think it would be unreasonable to expect our guests to be willing to share a room with someone they don’t know while the current situation persists.

The shared room can only be booked by people who book this room with one other person (so friends, couples or relatives). All the other five rooms can only be booked as a single room. All our rooms are en-suite rooms.

Shared double room, en-suite bathroom – Sharing with 1 other person – €310 p.p for the weekend. Single room, en-suite bathroom – €360 for the weekend.

Coronavirus guidelines

We are all learning how to deal with the current circumstances.

It is very important to us that everyone feels safe and that you can enjoy your stay here without feeling nervous or anxious.

As HSE and Government guidelines are bound to change over the coming months, we will make sure to implement these changes as they occur.

We have taken all the necessary precautions so we would appreciate it if you take some time to read through them so that you know what to expect from us and what we would expect from you. In this way, we can all enjoy the peace and tranquillity that Mulvarra House offers.

We recommend you read our full guidelines here . This page also explains the thinking behind our policies, and above all, how we are approaching reopening as safely as possible.

Your teacher
Katie O’Byrne: I did my very first Yoga class 16 years ago, I didn’t know much about the practice, only that it made me feel good. For years Yoga was just something I did as a hobby every now and again. Almost 10 years ago it all started to change, slowly, so slowly I barely noticed my whole life being turned upside down. It was no coincidence that while all these changes were happening I had started a more dedicated yoga practice. Without noticing, everything I was learning on the mat, had started to seep out into my life. In 2016 I decided it was time for more change, so I decided to travel to Rishikesh Yog Peeth, in Northern India, where I received my Hatha Yoga Teaching Certificate, and I made a promise to myself to teach Yoga as a lifestyle, not just to teach Asana (Yoga Postures). I immediately started to share what I had learned by teaching classes, workshops and Retreats. Since my initial Yoga training I have also become a Reiki Master which has helped me to understand that we are not just a physical body, but we are also an energetic body, and keeping our energies balanced through Yoga & Reiki can keep us healthy and full of life.

The food experience on the retreat

At Mulvarra, we are very excited about food. Excited about where it comes from, how it is grown, how it is prepared, who you eat it with. As we are still in the early stages of developing Mulvarra and its Breathing Space, we are currently using fresh ingredients and organic food where we can but in the future we will grow our own food.We generally stick to vegetarian cooking in Mulvarra, although we are flexible and also cater to a variety of dietary restrictions. Vegetarian cooking is so versatile, you really don’t miss that piece of meat on your plate when it’s not there. Whatever your thoughts are on the topic, there is no denying that the meat production in most countries is not sustainable and certainly not animal friendly. When we do, very occasionally, prepare meat dishes we make sure it’s organically sourced

Food Highlights

  • Full board accommodation
  • All meals and drinks included
  • healthy energy snacks
  • Food is all vegetarian and organic produce
